The Forgotten Bond

During one of my daily YouTube visits, I came across a clip of one of my favorite shows as a teenager. "Superboy." It was a half-hour live-action TV show based on the DC Comics comic book character Superman's early years as Superboy. Watching the clip kinda ruined the show for me with it's bad acting, costumes among other things. I guess it goes to show that you really don't know anything as a kid. But there were two things that I enjoyed seeing.

One Stuart Whitman as Jonathan Kent and in this particular episode former James Bond actor George Lazenby as aliens disguised as Superboy's Kryptonian father, Jor-El. I'll get to Whitman in another post, so I'll focus on Lazenby for now. Even with that puffy hair, I could tell there was a good looking man underneath, so I Google him. And DAMN! He turn into a hot silverfox. Now I have another former 007 that I can imagine being tied up, spread eagle on a table for him to say 'Do expect me to talk?' So I could answer 'No. I expect you to get fucked!'

Lazenby was the first person to take Sean Connery's place as Bond in 1969's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." With no prior acting experience he won one of the most coveted roles in cinema.  But the job, and the fame, disappeared almost as quickly as it had arrived. Despite the popular belief that he quit the role or that he was fired, he actually simply was in a lengthy contract dispute, of which his saying he had quit the role was part of his negotiating ploy. There was a dispute over Lazenby's Bond contract because it was 14 inches thick and covered everything from how Lazenby should behave in public, how he should dress, how he should wear his hair, that he always be cleanly shaven, among numerous other things over the 14 year length of the contract. In the end, Lazenby turned down a very large amount of money and demanded twice what he was offered, and Bond production company Eon and United Artists then removed him from their plans in the Bond franchise.

In his post-Bond career, Lazenby has acted in TV movies, commercials, various recurring roles in TV series, the film series "Emmanuelle", several Bond movie spoofs, TV guest appearances, provided voice for several animated movies and series, and several Hong Kong action films, using his martial arts expertise. As for his appearances in the "Emmanuelle" series, don't bother trying to find them for him. Lazenby did not participated in any of the films' frequent sexual scenes. Damn shame.

 Yeah... you still got it.

Ug... why did I include this pic.
Much better.
